WFLS Honors the Republic of Korea at State Department Reception

On February 10, 2015 the Washington Foreign Law Society joined with the U.S. Department of State and Acting Legal Adviser, Mary McLeod to honor the Republic of Korea for its commitment to and collaboration with the United States on matters including freedom, democracy, rule of law, nuclear nonproliferation, and free trade. Ambassador Ahn Ho-Young accepted the honors in a keynote speech in which he stressed the strong partnership and shared values that exist between the United States and the Republic of Korea.

The reception, hosted by the U.S. Department of State in the picturesque Diplomatic Reception Rooms, was attended by over 300 guests, including leading government, academic, and private sector figures from both the United States and the Republic of Korea.  The reception featured an exhibit of historical documents in Korean diplomatic history provided by the Library of Congress’ Law Library and Asian Division and a traditional Gayageum musical performance provided by the Korean Cultural Center in Washington, D.C.
