    Reception Honoring Mexico

On November 13, the Washington Foreign Law Society honored Mexico at its annual reception in the State Department Diplomatic Reception Rooms.  The event was co-sponsored with Harold Koh, the State Department’s Legal Adviser. Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan accepted the honors in a keynote address to the well over 350 people in attendance.  Sam Witten, President of WFLS, and Harold Koh delivered remarks praising the collaboration between Mexico and the United States on a full range of legal issues and celebrated the increasingly close collaboration of the two countries.   In addition to the spectacular surroundings of the reception rooms, the Law Library of Congress displayed a special selection of works from the Rare Book Collection relating to the legal and constitutional history of Mexico.  As another special treat, guests enjoyed a video presentation on the beauties of Mexico and the musical performance of a mariachi band.
