Prof. Dr. Feiyu Xu is a leading figure in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Germany. Prof. Dr. Xu was Senior Vice President at SAP SE (a German software development and consulting group), overseeing the intelligent transformation of the corporation as Global Head of AI between 2020 and 2023. Prof. Dr. Xu notably defined and orchestrated the design and the implementation of the AI strategy. Prior to joining SAP, Prof. Dr. Feiyu Xu was Vice President of Lenovo Group (a global technology leader) and Head of the AI Lab at Lenovo Research from March 2017 to March 2020 at Lenovo’s headquarters in Beijing (China). Prof. Dr. Xu designed and led Lenovo’s overall AI technology strategy. Prior to working for the Lenovo Group, Prof. Dr. Xu was Principal Researcher at the German Research Center for AI (Deutsches Forschungszentrum für Künstliche Intelligenz GmbH - DFKI), leading the research group of text analytics in the Language Technology Lab, based in Berlin (Germany).
Besides, Prof. Dr. Xu co-founded Nyonic (an AI start-up aiming at empowering industry and business transformation through full-stack generative AI-solutions) and acted as Chief Product Officer until March 2024. Prof. Dr. Xu was also general manager of Yocoy Technologies GmbH, a DFKI spin-off company that Prof. Dr. Xu co-founded in 2007.
In her various executive and entrepreneurial roles in the technology industry, Prof. Dr. Xu acquired extensive experience in the entire cycle of innovation ranging from basic research via AI development all the way to products and their commercialization. In 2013, she won a Google Focused Research Award for her contribution in the field of natural language processing.
In 1998, Prof. Dr. Xu received a MSc in Computational Linguistics at Saarland University (Germany) and 2007 a PhD in the same subject.
Prof. Dr. Xu is currently a Non-Executive Director (NED) at the Supervisory Board of ZF Friedrichshafen (a global technology company), a NED at the board of ChainIQ AG (a Swiss procurement and supply chain service company) and a NED at the board of Zühlke AG (a Swiss innovation and technology consulting company). She also serves as an advisory board member of Global Neighbours GmbH/eV (operating a dialogue platform for stakeholders, in Europe, Asia and beyond) and as chairwoman of the Asia Berlin Forum eV (a forum that promotes cooperation with Asia in business and tech). She is also a Member of the Supervisory Board of Siemens Energy AG since 20 February 2025.
Kathryn Rauhut is an attorney specializing in international security. She works primarily in the field of cyber and nuclear security accountability and liability issues. Prior to her work with the Stimson Center she was a Strategic Advisor to the Internet Security Alliance and to the World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS). In her role at WINS, Rauhut led international roundtables and authored policy papers on improving global governance of nuclear and cybersecurity through building the business value of security. Previously, she was the Deputy General Counsel of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. She is a member of the California Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the International Nuclear Lawyer’s Association. She just completed a decade of international work in Europe while living in Vienna, Austria and is now located in the San Francisco Bay area.
Moderator: Alexandra Bochnakova. Alexandra is the President of the Washington Foreign Law Society. She is an international lawyer educated and licensed in France and in the United States. She is currently working as Corporate and International Counsel at the Office of General Counsel at Finca Impact Finance, Washington DC, a microfinance institution with over 15 subsidiaries in emerging nations. Previously, she was Head of Corporate Affairs and Corporate Secretary of the Board of Directors of the holding, at Pierre Fabre Group, France, working on corporate and regulatory matters with nearly one hundred companies of the Group in France and worldwide. Prior to that, and for over 12 years, she was the founding partner of SELAS Bochnakova, a boutique law firm focused on international law and cross-border matters. In parallel, she was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Toulouse 1 Capitole and ESICAD Business School in Toulouse, France.
