Stuart G. Steingold, a long time member of the Board, has practiced for over 30 years in the field of international and domestic finance, with emphasis on project and aviation finance.
He is the retired head of the Project Finance Group of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison.
His practice in over 75 jurisdictions worldwide, especially Africa, Central and South America and Asia, has focused on project finance, infrastructure, aircraft finance, investment analysis, leasing and asset-based finance. His transactions are as diverse as greenfield power plants, leveraged leases for aircraft, railcars and containers, geothermal and other alternative energy projects, offshore oil and gas platforms, oil sands recovery facilities, mining and smelting complexes, and sovereign debt issuances and reschedulings. They have included pioneering equipment and energy financings in developing countries such as Gabon, Cameroon, Guatemala, Venezuela, Costa Rica, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Indonesia.
In the US he has concentrated on alternative energy, aircraft finance, including financings associated with equipment purchases and leases by major US airlines, and investment analysis.
Prior to Paul, Weiss, Mr. Steingold was a partner at White & Case and Perkins Coie. He has been based in New York, Paris and Washington DC. Featured and quoted in various publications, he has been recognized in the World’s Leading Project Finance Lawyers and the World’s Leading Banking Lawyers, each published by Euromoney.
He received his B.A. cum laude from Princeton University, the Certificat d’Etudes Politiques from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris, and his J.D. cum laude from Harvard Law School.
