MJ is an attorney at Clifford Chance’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group in Washington D.C. MJ’s practice is focused on US sanctions, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT), and government enforcement investigations involving issues of anti-corruption. Prior to joining Clifford Chance, MJ was an economist at the Central Bank of Korea where she managed Korea’s FX spot market. She was also a visiting scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C. where she conducted foreign policy studies focusing on Russia and North Korea.
MJ graduated cum laude and received her JD from American University Washington College of Law where she was a member of the AU International Law Review and served as Vice President of the Law and International Development Society. She graduated with honors and holds a Master of International Studies in International Cooperation from Seoul National University, and graduated magna cum laude and holds an Advanced Master of Science in European Politics and Policies from KU Leuven. She graduated with the highest honors and holds a BA in Russian Language and Literature/International Studies from Korea University. She is a native Korean speaker and is fluent in Russian.
