Emily Rae
Emily Rae is a consultant at the world headquarters of Booz Allen Hamilton, Inc., a global consulting firm with offices in six continents, where she specializes in strategy-based government transformation. To support the Obama transition team, Ms. Rae recently co-authored What it Takes to Change Government, a study identifying keys for successfully implementing agency-wide change within 11 cabinet and sub-cabinet level agencies in Clinton and Bush Administrations. Also working abroad, Ms. Rae recently guided development of governance structures for protecting and preserving cultural heritage in the U.A.E., and she helped to develop a strategic planning office for a new Abu Dhabi government authority.
As former president of WFLS and former vice president of advocacy for the U.N. Association National Capital Area Board of Directors, Ms. Rae’s passion is promoting knowledge and understanding of international legal and development matters, foreign law, and human rights considerations in government. She was elected President of the Washington Foreign Law Society in 2010.
Ms. Rae has received numerous national awards for public service, including ones from the U.S. President, Toyota, Target, and Prudential. In 2007, she was The George Washington University nominee for the Henry Roback Fellowship for the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA).
Ms. Rae earned her certificate in international human rights and humanitarian law at Oxford University (2007). She received her M.P.A. in international human rights law and development management from The George Washington University in June 2008 (Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars). She holds a B.A. in politics from Whitman College as a Washington State Scholar (2004).
